| The report has three main sections and a final part with conclusions and recommendations. Section one looks at the characteristics of domestic work in the Western European context, the socio-economic factors that affect the labour demand and supply in this sector of employment and are determinant to its low value. Section two focuses on the situation of migrant workers, who nowadays constitute the large majority of the household workers in many Western European countries. Section three includes a selection of cases studies on the specific situation of domestic workers in a few Western European countries for which information has been more easily accessible and/or where the issue is currently object of political discussion and legislative change. | |
