| "Equality for Women" tracks various countries progress with implementing and financing the third World Bank Millennium Development Goal (MDG3) by examining national experiences and successes with policies and programs. It provides the most recent analysis of the world's progress to date in achieving MDG3 using the expanded set of indicators, charts countries progress over time, benchmarks country performance against regional trends, as well as contributes the first estimation of the minimum amount of financial resources required to achieve MDG3 by identifying the costs of interventions aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment across sectors. Mit der Unterzeichnung der Millennium-Deklaration im Jahr 2000 hat sich die internationale Gemeinschaft zu acht Entwicklungszielen verpflichtet, mit zeitlichen Zielen und messbaren Indikatoren. Das dritte der Millennium-Entwicklungsziele hat die Gleichstellung der Frauen zum Inhalt, es soll die "Geschlechtergleichberechtigung fördern und Frauen ermächtigen". Herausgegeben von der Weltbank untersucht diese Aufsatzsammlung den Fortschritt, den die Länder bei der Implementierung und der Finanzierung dieses Ziels gemacht haben.
